About SOFIA House

At SOFIA House, we provide wrap-around services and supports to women, children, and families who have experienced domestic and interpersonal violence. Established in 1988 as Saskatchewan’s first second-stage housing program, we have expanded our continuum of care to include Saskatchewan’s first—and currently only—third-stage housing program, in collaboration with AVANA.

Today, SOFIA House provides 39 safe, affordable, and supportive apartment suites across our second- and third-stage programs. Residents access five programming streams: Children’s, Family, Housing, Harm Reduction, and Indigenous Relations.

Our trauma-informed, culturally grounded approach supports families through practical and emotional support, advocacy, community connections, healing, and cultural connection.

Join us for the Ride for Refuge on October 3rd and help SOFIA House provide safety, support, and hope to families rebuilding their lives.

What to Bring

A few common sense suggestions:

  • A cell phone for emergencies (recommended but not required)
  • Your walking shoes
  • Extra snacks if you have allergies or food sensitivities
  • Your own water bottle
  • Warm layers with moisture-repelling clothing. Early October weather can be cool, with rain and wind. The weather might also be gorgeous and sunny. So be sure to keep your eye on the forecast.
  • A passion for the charity you're fundraising for!
